12 Volt charging system on your scooter

This month, April 2012, it's been 3 years since I bought my Grand Dink on April 9, 2009 to be exact. It soon became clear that the Grand Dink scooter proved to be excellent for a variety of updates including electrical updates. In one of these updates came the idea to create a loading point using an XLR connector for recharching the battery without removing it.

An XLR connection has 3 connectors. In this case only 2 connectors will be used. The -femail-  chassis has the same connections. Both Femail or Mail can be purchased with or without a lock

The connection is a 2 way street and therefore for instance,  it is possible to connect an additional led lamp through the same connection. The advantage i find is, that if in the dark hours the original lighting fails then you still have an led lighting available to use.

It’s also useful if your scooter breaks down during a ride in the dark, the led lamp can be used as a flashlight during trying resolving the problem. The power consumption of the led lamp is minimal and can easily continue to burn for hours without draining the battery.

If  you are planning to go  -camping-  i find it helpful to have a 12 Volt power supply such as an XLR connection. Because these connections are stronger and more reliable comparing with the standard 12 Volt connectors.

The led lamp is custom made. I changed the original PCB for another PCB with 18 white led’s and built a cable made of 10 meters with an -mail-  XLR connector. Let's be honest. . . . a little extra walking space can be very usefull.

The original 12 volt power socket remains unused as an default mount point and can be used for a mobile phones, navigation etc.
